Ford automobile and Progress Energy (United States Florida power supplier) recently at the University of Central Florida in Orlando solar intelligent power grid Center issued a joint statement, Ford is expanding its plug-hybrid electric vehicle research project scale, at the same time, Ford's regional utilities partner Progress Energy to further integrate plug- hybrid Ford yihu (Gallery Forum) production into their business in Florida.

Progress Energy is assisting Ford jointly promote the commercialization of electric vehicle development of one of number of North American energy companies, energy companies and the United States Department of energy cooperation agreement signed in. Progress Energy since February 2009 to join the research project and announced in North Carolina, Raleigh (Raleigh) to plug in hybrid version of the Tiger for a road test futeyi.

As the first cooperating with utility industry of automobile manufacturers, Ford would like to talk to plug hybrid technology, as well as their connectivity and power grid all issues related to joint research. Ford from 2007 started the project, and in that year and Southern California Edison formed the first business partner relationship. Ford utility partners have 21 car plug in hybrid version futeyi Tiger is the total length of approximately 256,000 km road test. By pure electricity and gasoline engine-driven, these charging cars can achieve up to 51 km/l in driving efficiency.

Progress Energy Florida will be in on a car equipped with industry-first "car electric" smart grid communications and control systems of 2010 plug-hybrid version futeyi Tiger for a road test. This new technology to achieve the ultimate goal of the car and power grid connection, and to help vehicle operators decide when on vehicle charging and recharging duration. In addition, the test also aims at exploring the potential to cause the user to enjoy the non-peak times low utility charges. Progress Energy is responsible for the efficiency and innovative technology Vice President Rob Caldwell said: "the Progress Energy is committed to helping build the gateway to the electric Ford transportation modes road, at the same time help manufacturers solve including growing energy demand, global climate change and rising oil prices, the objective of the new energy era. ”
